Really? Are you fucking kidding me?!?

So I heard this re-iterated on the Daily Show Last night and it really pisses me off. So Obama is getting flack from a lot of progessives (like myself) for dragging his feet on so many of the promises he made (gays in the military, torture prosecutions, etc.) and the response we are getting from the white house is (paraphrase) that Obama is just ( Read more... )

I agree we elected him for 4 years and that expecting a lot one year in is probably a little much. I just resent the notion that we aren't 'smart' enough to understand what he is doing. I definitely think of things in the long-term too. I just think he needs to take a little more time to lay out his final objective and the strategy for getting there. Although that may give out too much information to the opposition...

I do hope that we get some decent health care reform that addresses problems in both insurance companies and health care providers (who seem to have gone unscathed in a lot of these discussions).

.. I, too, resent the cageyness, and think that a bit more straight-forward talk would serve his purposes a bit better... (people like to actually hear him talk--whenever he does talk, his favorability ratings go up ( ... )

Question: _gothfather_ November 4 2009, 20:30:04 UTC
Whatever happened to that woman who used to hang out at George Bush's place in Texas and protest the war while Bush was home cutting the brush back on his ranch? And are the networks still posting the war casualty lists like they used to do? I'm curious about that.
See, what people didn't realize is there's a flip side to "change you can believe in." That, of course, is "change you can't believe in." Still gives one the option of being "in favor" of change...

I actually dont remember them posting casualty lists. They cited the number of people dead but not lists of names (to my recollection but I actually rarely watch television news). I know there were some newspapers that printed those lists and I believe they still print the names of soliders when they do die in conflict zones. That said there are also far fewer deaths than there was before...(I was a big fan of the 'surge'... if we were going to be there we needed to do it right!) Of course Cindy is gone from the limelight... but the crazy lawyer/dentist leading the birthers got her 15 minutes instead.. the media just likes to shine the spotlight on whatever twit they can find who stands in opposition to whoever is in power. I found Cindy S. really annoying....

My stance with Obama was/is: "Change I don't believe is going to happen."
Other awesome slogans:
"Change we apparently might not be smart enough to understand"
"Change good...me like change. Change what?"
