It is not surprising that the Daily Texan (and damned near every other news outlet) praised New York Times "reporter" Judith Miller for what they saw as courage and resolution when called to finger her source following the outing of CIA agent, Valerie Plame. It is not surprising because the news media in these United States are a sad and disgusting group of folks with very little lease on the reality of man, God, or law. You folks in the news gathering business rally around not the truth or objectivity, but yourselves and your perceived exalted status. You really cannot handle the truth. But here it is anyhow: The truth is that there is no sacred right to keep anonymous sources anonymous, it is very much a myth. The truth is that Judith Miller has never been a scrupulous journalist (please see her front-page cheerleading for the Iraq war in the NYT.) The truth is that Judith Miller was not protecting a conscientious whistleblower entrenched in a corrupt administration who put his future on the line to commit a selfless and noble act a la Mark "Deep Throat" Felt. Miller was instead used as a vehicle for a smear campaign that quite simply equates to treason. The truth is that Judith Miller, the very bad journalist who relied only upon the establishment line pre-Iraq, and who has discredited the New York Times more than any conservative whining about liberal media bias is a traitor plain and simple. Her recent "discovery" of notes crucial to Patrick Fitzgerald's investigation after she testified is but more gasoline on the fire that she and the rest of the traitorious smear team deserve to burn on.
