30-day fanfic meme, Day 9

9. Pairings - For each of the fandoms from day two, what are your three favourite pairings to write?

Three?! This is insane. The only thing I can even come up with that HAS three romantic pairings, off the bat, is "Pride and Prejudice". ;P But I'll talk about my favorite friendship pairings, and if I've written any romantic pairings (except James/Mort, lol) I'll mention them.

Let's see:

* Star Trek TOS: The "Triumvirate" (Kirk/Spock/McCoy) is the only possible choice. If I had to slash somebody, I might be able to go for Kirk/McCoy (oh "Balance of Terror", how are you so "Three Garridebs"? :D), but frankly I read Kirk totally straight and McCoy as pretty much asexual, so. (Besides, I think they're way more fun as a non-romantic OT3.)

* Captain America: Beyond canon Cap/Agent Carter flirtation, I just can't 'ship Cap. Which is weird - because I wouldn't say he reads as ace to me, really, but my reaction to Steve/Tony or Steve/Bucky is the same "oh no no DO NOT WANT can't look" as I get with Holmes/Watson. *head-tilty of thinkyface*

* Spider-Man: Well, I beta canon Peter/MJ (for my mom), but I don't write it. As to the character I do write, Eddie Brock / Venom - his strongest relationship is with his sentient shapeshifting suit of clothes, his "symbiote". (Really. They risk their lives for each other and everything. I heart them.) And if that has any sexual element at all, it's not one I want to know about. ;P

* MacGate: Jack/Teal'c friendship is my absolute favorite thing to read, ever, though I fail at writing it; Jack/Janet friendship is a close second. (What I've actually written would be "team, no pairing, team, Sam/Bra'tac friendship". Which was fun, incidentally. All the friendships on SG-1 are fun; it's like DS9 that way.) I 'ship Jack/Sam to the extent that Sam/Daniel or Sam/Teal'c makes me go "whuh? where did that come from?", but that's mainly because it was canon in the first few eps I watched.

* Doctor Who: Doctor/TARDIS is my OTP, except when I'm 'shipping Three/Liz (INVIZIBAL FIREWORKS). Somehow the TARDIS doesn't like to share. ;P Rory/Amy are fairly cool as well. And if I could force one non-canon couple to get together and like it, I'd go for Mickey/Rose - she never appreciated what she had there, and he was way too loyal to her, but my ideal ending for them after "Doomsday" would have been for her to actually realize how awesome he was and make it work with him. Or at least, not keep pining after the Doctor. o_O

* NCIS: I watch "The Ducky and Abby Show". ;-) But I don't 'ship them.

* Sapphire & Steel: Sapphire/Steel. Can you not 'ship them? O_O

* Bonanza: No 'ships, for obvious reasons, but of the four mains, my favorite pair to watch work together are Hoss and Adam. It's like one of those Spock+Bones "head and heart" things, only they get along. :D There's a reason I decided to work forward by death-date instead of the more logical backward, in "Last Man Standing": Hoss had to be the first one to talk to Adam.

* Man from UNCLE: I could easily accept Napoleon as bi- or pansexual, but as I read Illya as asexual, there's not much point; I still don't 'ship them. I do, however, love loyal-partner fic beyond all reason.

* Legend: I have a stalled epic about how Bartok and Ramos came to be working together. I still want to finish that someday. (I read Janos Bartok as asexual and therefore will get ranty if the fandom ever gets big enough to develop a slash component, because he's half of both obvious pairings - but Bartok/Ramos friendship is a wonderful thing to behold. I feel a rewatch coming on... ;D)

* Star Trek TNG: Q/Picard was my first slash 'ship. It's pretty inarguable, even without "Tapestry". I don't necessarily 'ship them sexually (although Q has better chemistry with Picard than anyone else except - disturbingly - the teenage girl in "True Q"), but as innocentsmith remarked a while back, the quarrelling is their real sex anyway.

* Star Trek DS9: I 'ship Odo/Lwaxana. I hated it for their first two eps, and then in the course of one minute, "The Muse" turned me into a hardcore 'shipper. (It's the scene where they're playing hide-and-seek in Odo's bedroom and he GIGGLES BECAUSE HE IS HAVING FUN. I'm like "Awww, she is so good for him, she ought to stick around!" and simultaneously *gutpunch* "oh God that is the relationship I have always wanted, I can has please?" It tears me up that you could never get that portrayed as a lasting relationship on the telly. WANT.)

As to friendship pairings - EVERYBODY/EVERYBODY. That is what DS9 is FOR. Put all the names in a hat, pull out two characters, and if there isn't already a brilliant episode about their interactions, you could make one. *nods seriously*

* Middleman: Mirror!MM/Mirror!Lacey are canon, plus they rock hardcore. I can't write missing-ep spinoff fic for them because that would be one seriously smutty "show", but... there's a part of me that really wants to read it. Because they're awesome. (Also Evil!Noser. I pretty much want "Mirror!Noser PWNS ALL: The Show", with mirror!MM and mirror!Lacey for his sidekicks. Because, NOSER.)

* X-UNIT!verse: Logan/everybody friendship, honestly. Who'd I have - Logan, Kitty, Ororo, Piotr, Kurt, Liz and the Brig? Yeah. Logan and the Brig don't get on overly well (they're a tad too much alike), but the rest of 'em? I SO HAVE TO WRITE THIS FIC. ;D

Aaaand... that's it! Apparently I 'ship Doctor/TARDIS, Sapphire/Steel, Q/Picard, Odo/Lwaxana, and mirror!Middleman/mirror!Lacey. Of the five, only the last is a conventional humanoid couple. *head-tilty*

(You're right, lost_spook, an all-computer threesome would be right up my street. *g*)
