Just FYI . . . there are hundreds of DW invite codes rattling around the net. Anyone who wants one and doesn't already have one can Google for it.

They send me some random invite codes today too. Must be looking to boost membership.

I expect it's to do with the news of the big LJ security breach - apparently some people have gotten logged into other random people's accounts by accident, due to a code glitch, and there's been no official reaction to the bug reports. So there's probably another minor Dwth exodus in the making, and it is only sensible of them to start handing out invite codes. *wry grin*

I believe you can but there's a waiting list? Or am I thinking of the AO3? Anyway - yeah, it's a method often used by smaller websites to keep the number of accounts from growing faster than their servers can handle.
