Chrestomanci fic recs, by request (sort of)
So - to begin at the end, or very nearly - smirnoffmule recently asked me if I'd found any good Chrestomanci fic on the AO3. I had. So I said I'd have to make a rec list, and here it is

Hee. But we're talking a show that has three different accounts of the sinking of Atlantis and two origins of the Loch Ness Monster just in the original TV canon; reasons for why previous adventures may never have happened (Time War, Genesis of the Daleks, Reboot of the Universe etc etc); and if you factor in spin-offs, Gallifrey has been destroyed three times (and, yes, the Eighth Doctor was to blame for all three, which is particularly careless for one regeneration, but then he does keep losing his memory a lot...) And there are at least five different explanations for what happened to Ace. And one time nothing after Three existed in the EDAs for a bit. Not to mention that Mel travels with the Sixth Doctor when technically she's never even met him... How many times can you say wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey while waving your hands a lot? :lol:
I'll have to check out your recs sometime - they sound v interesting. (The TW crossover sounds highly amusing & the Howl one also!) I have to say, there's something about DWJ that makes me very uncomfortable about other people writing her. I always like the idea of DWJ fic, and then up against the reality of stuff not by her, I don't know what it is - I often just end up v uncomfortable, although I do like some. Maybe once I finally accept that she really is gone now and has therefore finished with these characters, maybe... (And, heh, so glad you enjoyed one of my Yuletide gifts!!!)
(Tip: If you ever do feel up to Yuletide, requesting Chrestomanci doubles your chances of getting extra gifts because DWJ fans are so determined to increase the no. of fic via Yuletide. or they have been in the past. ;-D)
