The 4th Name

Well, it's finally nice to be back. Apparently, inhabitants of Memento Eden can come under sickness, if the past few weeks has proven anything. Fortunately, it was only a cold so I didn't need any serious medical attention, though I had to reside in my apartment room for a while. But I did go to the library one day, and I took out a few books that looked interesting. Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky is the one I think I enjoyed the most. The study of of criminal action, even in a fictional, hypothetical situation such as the one presented in this book is always interesting. I would have to dismiss Raskolnikov's murders unjustifiable, though-murder is a violation of justice. Not to mention his megalomania and selfish desires fueled his horrible acts anyways. I admit that the idea is a bit too close to my ideals that I would like to admit...I feel that the world would be better without certain types of people, yet resorting to killing them is morally wrong! This is why I wonder why I was imprisoned as some sort of criminal named "Kira" in the first place! There surely must be some power handing out memories wishing to see its citizens tormented by their past memories! But I must put that behind me now...as I was talking to a new guy named Nozomu the other day, this place is a new beginning. Maybe I could try and compensate for whatever sins I had in the past, here.

Unfortunately, I've lost a way of getting a simple notion of my identity. I had talked to Mikami a month ago, and he seemed to know a girl named Misa who knew someone named "Light" (Whether it was me or not is still questionable. However, the name does seem familiar, though I just can't place my finger on it-it's a deja vu, feeling, really). Back then, I looked up the apartment list and she was still there; now it seems to have vanished. I have heard that there are other inhabitants who have also disappeared, where to, I have no idea. I do hope that they have returned to the universe they once came from, even though the possibility exists that they might have been kidnapped or put in an even worse place, though I sincerely do not want that to be the case in truth.

There are posters up virtually everywhere, about a ball in Memento Eden. I can't say that the idea thrills me too much, nevertheless since attendance is mandatory, I'll be going-I really don't want to go for a week without food (or "vittles," to amuse you, Serra). I assume that attendees would regain memories if they went. The possibility even exists that we might even lose memories if we don't attend! I'm not too interested in a date, even if the posters say that there might be some kind of reward; and I surely can't manipulate with my potential date's feelings like that, to pretend to be interested just to get that reward! That goes against my moral code. But going off that topic a bit, what else could reward more memories? Doing a certain dance, wearing certain clothes...the possible situations are endless.

[ooc: I hope this is sufficient enough for a post to save me from probation. About the date thing...he's planning to go alone, but not completely abandoning the idea that he might go with someone to the ball. But he'll just see it as that: "escorting someone" instead of "date". He won't do anything that special or romantic. This is where Misa's leave seems like unfortunate timing. xD ]
