Has it been forever? Not quite. Am I avoiding work? Just like everyone else. Did I steal this from my friends? See previous.
Day 1 - Your Favorite Song
Eh, I'll just go with one I'm enjoying right now: "Gunslinger Theme" by Vincent E.L. See, it's only nerdy if you know what it's from, and if you know what it's from, you're just as big a nerd. So there. :D
Day 2 - A Song You Wish Was About You
"Bizzaro Genius Baby" by MC Frontalot. I either want to be that baby or have that baby.
Day 3 - A Song That Makes You Happy
"A Little Priest" from Sweeney Todd. Because puns about cannibalism are hilarious.
Day 4 - A Song That Makes You Sad
"Blackbird" by John Lennon. It's like happy for deep people.
Day 5 - A Song That Reminds You of Someone
"Maps" by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. In high school, a friend would always sing this song on Rock Band. They're inextricable now. Helps that the lyrics fit with who she was at the time.
Day 6 - A Song That Reminds You of Somewhere
"Whistling In the Dark" by They Might Be Giants. It reminds me of Northampton at night, around 2am.
Day 7 - A Song That Reminds You of a Certain Event
"Hey There Ophelia" by MC Lars. If we stretch the meaning of "event" to mean "last summer at work."
Day 8 - A Song That You Know All the Words To
All the songs! Going by most impressive, "Elements" by Tom Lehrer.
Day 9 - A Song That You Can Dance To
"Everybody Dance Now" by Music Factory. What?
Day 10 - A Song That Makes You Fall Asleep
Anything from the Stop Making Sense album by Talking Heads. Not through any boring-ness of music, but I played those songs while at summer camp a few years ago to fall asleep, because they blocked out all the other noise going on and helped me focus on something other than my inability to fall asleep (which was inhibiting my ability to sleep). It's sorta too bad, because I really like most of those songs.
Day 11 - A Song from Your Favorite Band
I'll pick one: "Zombie Jamboree" covered by Rockapella. Still haven't heard the original, but I really like that group.
Day 12 - A Song from a Band You Hate
"Just Lose It" by Eminem. I hated it in high school, but really like it now. Still can't figure out why. This might fall under #14 as well.
Day 13 - A Song That Is a Guilty Pleasure
"Achy Braky Heart" by Billy Ray Cyrus. I liked it when I was little, and I like it now. I don't exactly understand why it drives everyone else mad. This might fall under #14 as well.
Day 14 - A Song That No One Would Expect You to Love
"Teeth" by Lady Gaga. Dark, sexual, practically unsingable pop, and I really enjoy it.
Day 15 - A Song That Describes You
"Addicted to Bad Ideas" by the World/Inferno Friendship Society. Well, much of it.
Day 16 - A Song That You Used to Love But Now Hate
"Good Golly Miss Molly" by Little Richard. I was way into 50s rock in my younger days, but have fallen a bit out of love with it. They get kind of repetitive.
Day 17 - A Song That You Hear Often on the Radio
"F*** You" by Cee Lo Green. At least, if I listened to the radio with any more frequency.
Day 18 - A Song That You Wish You Heard on the Radio
"Life During Wartime" by the Talking Heads, at least on classic rock stations. Or any stations, but that seems the most probable.
Day 19 - A Song from Your Favorite Album
I'll pick one: "Sufferagette City" by David Bowie, from Changesbowie. I like most of the songs, and they work well together.
Day 20 - A Song That You Listen to When You're Angry
"Death on Two Legs" by Queen. Especially when there's someone specific I'm angry at. Also, "He Had It Coming" from Chicago.
Day 21 - A Song That You Listen to When You're Happy
All of them? Let's go with "The Scotsman" who I don't know who originally did it, but yeah.
Day 22 - A Song That You Listen to When You're Sad
"Love Is Flowing Like a River." It's a song from church. To be accurate, I sing it, I don't have it recorded.
Day 23 - A Song That You Want to Play at Your Wedding
"Obladi, Oblada" by the Beatles. Life goes on.
Day 24 - A Song That You Want to Play at Your Funeral
"Hell" by Squirrel Nut Zippers. Yeah, that bouncy song about the afterlife from Dead Like Me. Because nothing is better than brassy trumpets at a funeral.
Day 25 - A Song That Makes You Laugh
"First of May" by Jonathan Coulton. It's just so happy and explicit!
Day 26 - A Song That You Can Play on an Instrument
The Super Mario theme song on flute. Actually easier that I thought it would be.
Day 27 - A Song That You Wish You Could Play
"Moondance" by Van Morrison Band. Alternatively, anything on trumpet, clarinet, guitar, piano, or drums. I have no instrument-fu.
Day 28 - A Song That Makes You Feel Guilty
"Witness," don't know the original singer, but it's about being a witness for the Lord, and sounds amazing a capella. See, I used to know the soprano part for it in high school, and had friends who were bass and alto and we'd all sing it. But I've forgotten most of it, and probably no longer have the range for it even if I remembered. Oddly, I never sang this song in church, only in public high school.
Day 29 - A Song from Your Childhood
"Bad to the Bone" by George Thouroughgood. My dad would sing it with me.
Day 30 - Your Favorite Song at This Time Last Year
"Zoot Suit Riot" by the Cherry Poppin' Daddies. I had rediscovered it at the time.
