"Boys don't visit girls at the end of the hall."
That's the motto I came up with for Katie and I, and our friend Maggie across the hall. We are room 158 Tappan, the last door on the right.
Friday morning started out with me waking up not 20 minutes late, not 40 minutes late, but an hour and a half late. Apparently my family forgot that I wasn't up walking around while all this moving was going on, and I woke up at a lovely 7:37 when we were supposed to leave at 8am. Piss. Ohwell, the rest of the gang was late too, so that was okay. Katie decided to scratch driving with me and Mollie in my car (the best car) and go with her parents. ... YES. The 2.5 hour trip (... supposed to be 2 hours, but someone got us lost.) consisted of me and Mollie drinking Jones and blaring the Warped and Blink CDs, then busting out old school Destiny's Child, and finally, Spice Girls. I can safely assume I was the only girl on campus to arrive blaring "Spice Up Your Life".
Katie read and answered "homework" questions the whole way here.
We had a hall meeting, my RA is Monica. A super happy, super friendly, little too much of both kind of gal. There are about 40-50 girls in my hall... I'm definitely in the nerdy hall, lemme tell ya. (Bailey and I had discussions... then referenced them while in front of several hallmates. ... I have private jokes with Bailey. haha) Okay, so then they had that darn "party" for us, 'After Dark'. It was a band and like, the entire freshman class (5000 people?) and free pizza. It was hardcore raining the whole night, so not only were we soaking wet, covered in mud, but, there were huge huge amounts of people fighting for a pizza. And it was still just me, katie, and our friend across the hall. However, standing in the pizza line, I spotted Bailey, and proceeded to hide behind the big guy in front of me, then jump out and push him (... lightly) when he passed us. That was a lovely surprise for him, and helped us find our other GC people. Shortly after that (still in line) Lane passed us and talked a bit, but we got pushed along the line a lot so we couldn't really talk. Katie failed to get his room number OR building. ...
We decided the party was gay, so Bailey, Kate, Maggie and I headed to Bailey's room to see what that was like, and play cards. But we didnt end up playing cards, we just watched the olympics and saw that US swimmer get ROBBED by the other US swimmer because his freakin' arms were longer. =[ Bailey walked us back and chilled with me in our room for a while, Katie was here but she was doing something like ... talking on her computer and getting pissy that it was NEARLY 12am and we were talking. (past 'quiet hours'). FUN. Bailey left around ehhhhh 12:30ish, then I wandered the hall trying to find reception on my phone to call and finally crashed in bed around 1:30. =\ I stayed up later in GC!!
Saturday. Oh, Saturday. They made us go to a thing called "Faces of America", which is a cultural enrichment one-woman show. =[ yay. Even MORE "yay"... starts at 10am, so we have to leave at 9:30, so I have to get up early enough to beat the shower rush. Well, I set my alarm for 6 so I could get up, shower, then go back to sleep. Didn't feel like getting up that early and hit the snooze (slept with alarm in my hand), and then got up 7:30. I don't know if I'll ever be used to showering with shoes on. And it will be a sad day when I am.
Anyway. After the Faces thing, we all swarmed this field for a picnic. In line we made friends with Alex, Matt, and Steve (the Brad Pitt one). I was giddy to meet them because they were the artsy-skater kids I long for. lol Alex is a music major, and the other two are fine arts major. The one guy, Matt, specializes in water color, and that made me happy because that was my favorite. They were all wearing cute NON preppy clothes (highly unusual), and are in room 339 Sims. I told them we'd visit.
After the picnic, which wasn't too bad, we walked back to the dorm, got my car, then went to Shriver (the main building where all the stuff happens, the bookstore is, the restaurant is, the convienience store is) to pick up our books. Wow, my box was so heavy. But the books look so cool and FRESH. I'm actually excited, but mainly or my two psych classes. Anyway, I was all set within like 10 minutes, but Katie and Maggie, who I drove so they wouldn't have to carry their books all the way back, took a while since they had to actually buy their books THEN, not pre-ordered. Then we checked out the poster sale they had goin', I ended up buying a big black and white poster of the Moulin Rouge for $4.50. I put it down by my bed, which looks really nice, and then I'm going to put a bunch of black and white photos around it. After we came back and organized books and stuff, I realized I'd forgotten my ethernet cable, so I had to go back and buy one. piss! But once I got it, I happily got to talk to people online for the first time in like, 1.5 days and it's QUITE enjoyable. (I'm so glad I got a laptop). -- Dear god, Katie won't open the fucking window shade to let the REALLY PRETTY day in because "I don't want to get sun on my printer..."-- ANYWAY! At 4 we headed uptown (... to the area where businesses are) to get a "Taste of Oxford". That was where we got $5.50 towards a meal at most of the places there, but Bailey and I just hit Wendy's cuz it wasn't crowded and you could get whatever you wanted, compared to the others where they had specific meals you could choose from. Katie and some other girl we met (don't remember her name, just know she's doing Spanish/French major and lived in Costa Rica for a year) who previously said they were going places other than wendy's came back and took the Wendy's afterall. Got some cool stuff from the Christian Fellowship, though I didn't realize that's what all the free stuff in this bag was. Piss. Ended up crumpling up the papers and trying to give away my Jesus book. Reminds me that on a survey we did, a lot of it was about God, like the whole last page. And one question asked what you thought of God, and listed a bunch of options. like "our saviour" "part of me" "invisible force". I say "where's FAKE?" (people didn't like that) and then wrote in FAKE and checked that box.
haha.
Well anyway, then that girl left us, and we located a bench after looking in a lot of the shops around town. Sat on the bench and talked for a good hour. One part included "Blink once if you think Morehead is stupid" and Bailey not blinking for like 3 whole minutes, but his eyes were watering so much and turning red, and I was trying to blow in his eye. hehehe Er.... lol well then Katie had told this creepy guy she met (that seriously stalked her to find her sn) that we'd hang out with him. ?! So she was trying to call him and stuff, and then when we got back to the dorm told him that we'd go up to his room (he's in Tappan too) to meet him. However, I was like "I'll join you in a few minutes" because I had just sat down with some milk and cookies and Vince and McD (hadn't talked to) were online and I wanted to talk. But she keeps waiting for me, and waiting, and I'm like "you and Bailey go and I'll come in a minute, just hold on, geesh" So *finally* Bailey and I look over because there was movement by the door, and it was KATIE LEAVING. She seriously straight up LEFT and went to this guy she doesn't knows' dorm, and we leave like 2 minutes after her, and get there, and all these guys in the hallway are like "oooh ;) you lookin' for V?" "... no I'm looking for my friend who's with him" "that chick? they just left". ... So she left with a guy she doesn't know, too! She totally ditched us! It wasn't SO nice of her for the rest of the night. I had a super bad headache and wanted to go back and sleep (:( at a pathetic like 9:45) but as we were walking back, we realized we were right where the fireworks were going to be. So we stopped and sat like directly under the fireworks and they were pretty darn good. Yeah... my school shoots off fireworks for our arrival, jealous? Bailey and I went to his house and got the ping pong stuff, and played in the basement. It was a pretty hardcore game, for half an hour. hah Well it was! It was his birthday, and it was cute having all the people that passed us say "happy birthday nick!" and one guy singing to him.
Well I ended up feeling pretty shitty, so we went back to my dorm and sat for a bit (just cuz he seems to like walking us girls back to our dorms) and I like, got in my pjs and was in bed and he just sat in the chair and watched TV. Kyle called for katie, while she was out with that other guy. haha :'(
This morning I woke up around 9:30 and I have till about 1 till anything is scheduled. And even then, it's not anything I have to do, so I might just skip it, who knows. My plan is to find all my classes today, and then I have to move my car to the police station parking downtown. And I plan on having a good talk with Vince, who i didn't get to talk to at ALL last night either because first, Katie's rushing, then later, I was all sleepy and sick. So I shall call. Well... time to head for the showers. Bye!!
