You know you twist so fine,

For some reason, I started doing the twist before English. Lauren, being the great dancing sport that she is soon joined in as we shook it up with our crazy twisting moves. It was not long before we attracted a crowd (I would never exaggerate) of onlookers who were ever-so envious of our amazing singing voices and mad "doo dee doo"ing when the words didn't come. Who knew that there were so many songs that talked about doing the twist? To begin with there is the classic Beatles "Twist and Shout" (which always makes me think of Ferris Bueller which makes me think of Cameron which makes me think of love). Then there's "Do You Love Me?" by The Dave Clark Five with their song of the born again dancing king who sang "Now I can do the blues/ And I can do the twist/Now tell me baby/Do you like it like this?" And Ashli reminded me about Chubby Checker's hit "Let's Twist Again." So, er, "shake it up!"

In Biology, we have finally moved away from oogenesis and fetuses (or is it fetii?) to "The World of Microbes." This is a very exciting development for me because I can show off all of my Grahm-Staining knowledge from Microbiology.

Last night I went to Lee's Induction Ceremony to The Clint Small National Junior Honor Society (I use capitals because it is an extremely prestigious organization). My reasons were three fold: first I love Lee, second I knew there would be cake, third it's hard to pass up an opportunity to get my sarcastic teenager juice out of my system by making fun of those Clint Small Cougars. I spent the hour long ceremony shaking my head at the eighth grade girls in their homecoming/cocktail dresses, the skanky seventh graders in mini-skirts, sparkly shirts and high-heeled sandals. The sixth graders were an interesting bunch, split between those who were dressed by their parents and those who were eager for an opportunity to flaunt their hints of curves. I do not mention the boys because they just weren't as funny (for one thing they were outnumbered 2:1 by girls). I then scoffed at their concept of community service. For one thing, planting flowers in front of a school like Small does not really count. Secondly, we all know that a canned food drive requires the least student effort of all service projects. In order to have a canned food drive, a student must get their parents to make copies of fliers, get their parents to get some boxes, get their parents to give them some ancient cranberry sauce from the back of the pantry, get their parents to drive them to the food bank. Of course I realize that I should not make fun of any volunteer work, because any bit helps. However, I just wish that the NJHS would have higher standards so that a membership would be more meaningful.
