Central Park Adventure!

Today, Rob Patterson and I decided to trek through Central Park and have an adventure. Adventuresome, it was. I'll keep it short.

It started out with us walking in through the Columbus Circle entrance and encountering Robin Williams filming a movie. It's called August Rush and it is about somehting magical. We stopped and watched for a moment, took a picture or two and then continued on our way.

The original purpose for the adventure was to find a releasing ground for Osama, the pet turtle we have here in 4B. He is a tiny little turtle and come springtime we are going to release him into the wild when it is warm. We spent much time after exploring and came upon a bamboo grove. Of course we had some safari fun as it was full of little tiny paths.

After the bamboo jungle extravaganza, we spotted some crazy birds and and robins and crocuses and daffodils! Spring is on the way! We then saw a couple of trees that I named the "Love Trees" because carved all over them were inititals and hearts with initials in them and names and professions of love. It was pleasant.

Rob Patterson then mentioned that there was a castle in Central Park. Of this I had never heard! It became our mission to find it. In the Ramble, there was a map that confirmed any and all suspicions that a castle did indeed exist. We made our way to Belvedere Castle and immediately became British. Naturally.

Atop the the sprial staircases we ahd a lovely view of the park and the city. After going down we discovered a large tank with two turtles in and and that the pond next to Belvedere Castle is called Turtle Pond! What better place for a turtle??? (Unfortunately, this did not seem to be a good palce for turtles, but we found many other options.)

Across the pond, there is a huge stage and stadium like thing and we decided that that is the first palce that Lincoln Lawgz (A band comprising of myself, Rob Patterson, Carolyn, Nadia, and Mark Nelson. We're pretty awesome.) will perform.

Walking, walking, walking again. Rob made friends with a cross country team. Into another woodland area and to a large boulder where a we sat and had a little conversation . A heart to heart, if you will.

Time to go, make a stop at Strawberry Fields, and then as we were exiting we were stopped and told that they were still filming and that if we didn't mind being in the shot we could keep walking but we had to walk and not stop and look. Of course we walked. So we should hope that shot is the one they use!

All in all a fantastic adventure, walking, joking, laughing, talking, sitting, movieing, castleing, singing, being crazy, etc.

I certainly enjoyed it.
