Hi everyone!
We've weathered the storm and did exceptionally well. My apartment doesn't have electricity, so I'm staying with my parents for the moment.
My hospital was very kind to us; we were paid for 16 hrs/day starting on Sunday; they fed us three free meals a day and were kind enough to give us free housing in the adjoining Hotel. I worked Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday, and I'm scheduled to work this Friday/Sat/Sun. It should be a very, very nice paycheck indeed.
A fat check would be lovely because I made a large purchase last week.
I traded in my beloved 2005 Accord:
for the new 2008 model:
I didn't need a new car, but the exceptional interest rates, coupled with huge discounts and a decent amount of equity in the '05 made it too good of a deal to pass up. She weathered the storm on the 4th floor of the hospital garage and came out unscathed.
As I type this, we're still all boarded up. See the neighbors' house? I kinda like it. Makes the house feel like a cold cave.
