I feel blue today, and not in a bad way.
As of this past Friday, IBM has officially acquired ISS. So I'm now an IBM engineer. They held a big presentation-meeting-thingie (with alcohol) at the Westin last night to welcome us. They had some very positive stuff to say, and it sounded sincere. I'm not too worried about the transition. It sound like it's going to be a really positive thing for me. It was definitely weird at the presentation last night, though, seeing a huge screen in IBM blue with text in IBM sans-serif -- just like in their usual advertisements -- saying, "IBM Internet Security Systems." Weird in a good way. It made it feel real. I'm an IBM engineer now.
So anyway, in other news, I'm typing this up at lunch. I'm at Willy's. Willy's doesn't have free WiFi, but the Chin-Chin 100 feet away does. So I'm LJing while munching down on yummy Willy's chips and habanero salsa. I am officially in heaven.
Other than that, well, it's busy but otherwise business as usual for me. A little bit of extra energy going into supporting loved ones in tough situations, but for myself I'm doing pretty damned well.
The habanero salsa definitely helps.
