So I didn't want to talk about it until I'd had a chance to talk face-to-face with my direct manager, but now that's out of the way. I turned in two weeks' notice at my current employer this past Friday. It's an excellent place, and I'm sure they'll do well and all that other politically-correct-but-actually-honest bullshit, but I need to be somewhere else. Despite some really excellent coworkers and some really interesting projects, I'm learning that it really just stresses me out. A lot. And that's starting to have a significant negative impact on a lot of other aspects my life, which is distinctly not-OK.
So the 16th will be my last day at my current employer, after which I'm taking a week off before starting up a new gig at American Signal on the 26th, where I'll be writing code for programmable roadside traffic signs and other embedded and non-embedded-but-self-contained projects whose level of publicity I don't yet know and thus shall not name.
