While following up on a topic from an earlier post, I learned that
UGA offers a
degree program in
cognitive science. Drool.
radiantbaby and I were making plans to visit their campus on Friday anyway; I just might see if I can dig up somebody from the department for a chat. Yayness!
In other news, I realized I haven't been posting about reading lately. I've been mostly keeping up, though some of it's been scattered. A little sex-related reading, plus I started L'Aphrodite Grecque as soon as it arrived. I also started (OK, restarted) The Illuminatus! Trilogy somewhere in there.
L'Aphrodite Grecque is going slowly, but much more quickly than I expected. I still have to check
my favoritest Spanish/French/Italian/English dictionary EVAR some, but I remember a lot more than I give myself credit for. As an added bonus, a ton of our English academic vocabulary just happens to come from the same roots as the French (thank you, Rome, for being so influential, even if you did steal and syncretize my gods and then in later imperial times try to stamp them out altogether, dammit), so even the words that I don't formally know usually have clear cognates.
Illuminatus! -- tonight's selection -- is enjoyable, even if I do keep getting interrupted. So far it's a fun romp, but I haven't yet seen what all the fuss is about. Maybe my past exposure to Discordianism has desensitized me to it. Maybe I just haven't gotten to the really amazing part yet. Either way, I'm certainly still chugging, and it's certainly far from dull.
