Weekend reading

I read my quota over the weekend. Busy weekend, so it was slow going. Rosenzweig. Iconography with Aphrodite riding side-saddle on the back of a goat. Possible associations to both Aphrodite Ouranos and Aphrodite Pandemos. Last chapter starts in on a shrine to Aphrodite Hippolytos suspected to be on the south side of the acropolis and also on the cult of Aphrodite in Piraeus.

In other news, after a very nice conversation with my father (EdD, former academic adviser, and current manager in academe), I've come to the conclusion that I can stomach a class or two per semester while working full-time, thus completing my Bachelors without sacrificing my full-time income. It'll take some time, but with 78 credit hours already behind me (mostly in electives rather than any core classes, unfortunately), I'm halfway there. And UGA offers an undergrad linguistics degree *drool*. I have this crazy dream of actually possessing some valuable (read: marketable) skills relating linguistics, comp sci, and information theory into a sort of work in translingual information processing, indexing, and searching. Go beyond simple computer translation into multilingual semantic websearches. *droolness*. I'm not sure who would love me more if I could pull it off: Google or the CIA.

Anyway, so college is probably on but not full-time and certainly not interfering with work and financial stability, though it might mean I have less time to socialize when classes start. I've gotten unofficial transcripts from the universities I've attended, and I plan on scheduling an appointment with an admissions counselor at UGA in the next few weeks. We'll see how that goes.
