I had a nice evening as
radiantbaby and I took a friend out for a belated birthday dinner. Unfortunately I drank way too much Coke shortly before bed, and that meant I'd be up at *some* point tonight to go to the bathroom. No biggie. Except, of course, I couldn't get back to sleep. Why? My computer's UPS -- all the way upstairs -- was beeping right about every minute. Not loud enough to wake me up on its own, but definitely loud enough to keep me from going back to sleep. Too tired (and too annoyed) to actually *fix* it (it's not an actual power issue), I just unplugged it.
Unfortunately, now I'm up, so I might as well make another catch-up post.
Oct 21-23 -- Nashville
After work that Friday
radiantbaby and I packed up our stuff and drove to Nashville. Nominally it was for
PhreakNIC, but visiting the
Parthenon was another major goal. In fact, it occupied a much more interesting chunk of the weekend. Outside of that visit I was mostly either recompiling software on my ancient laptop or else dicking with
scsh (*drool*).
Saturday afternoon we went to the Parthenon. I'd gone a few years ago with
zydee, but
radiantbaby had never been. I really enjoyed it. It feels crappy to leave it at just "I really enjoyed it" when going to the Parthenon really does move something deep inside of me. It doesn't feel like just an historical monument or an art museum to me. Unfortunately when I get into that part of my psyche, I end up at a loss for words. There are some things for which words -- even the greatest and most brave of them -- feel inadequate. That sensation probably deserves a post of its own. Maybe it'll get one someday.
