MtG Geekage

So last night was the last Monday Night Magic at gaeirin and azeltoth's. It was a nice evening. Mike and Janice (LJless, I think) were over, and there was some good gaming and good fun. I was mostly gaming *g*

We played a three-way league game, which azeltoth won. He's got a good league deck going. I hope he can continue the league up in his new home. It would be neat to get the two crowds together sometime for a big league gaming fest.

After that we played some general multiplayer. I tried out a new deck. As I expected the deck took a little time to get going, but once it was on it was pretty powerful. It finally won against 3 other decks: azeltoth's Seasinger/Giant Oyster/Tim deck, other-Mike's land destruction deck, and Janice playing other-Mike's Elfbowl deck. I was playing my brand-new Lifespinner deck.

Here's a partial card list:
* 4 Dripping-Tongue Zubera
* 4 Silent-Chant Zubera
* 1 Honden of Life's Web (I want more)
* 2 Honden of Cleansing Fire
* 4 Lifespinner
* 2 Reito Lantern (maybe one more)
* 2 Yomiji, Who Bars the Way
* 2 Yosei, the Morning Star
* 1 Jugan, the Rising Star (I want more)
* 1 Oyobi, Who Split the Heavens (I want more)
* 2 Hokori, Dust Drinker
* ... and a handful of other legendary spirits and support cards.

The general idea of the deck is to use the Zuberas and the Honden of Life's Web to get enough spirit tokens to power a Lifespinner. Use him to grab Yomiji, Who Bars the Way. Recycle the Zubera with Reito Lantern when it's convenient. Recycle Yomiji if he dies, and then go back after him with your Lifespinner. In fact -- even better -- if someone tries to target him, you can sacrifice him as a cost of the Lifespinner's ability, and then in response use the Reito Lantern to recycle him so that he's grabbable from your deck when the Lifespinner's ability resolves. In all it gets pretty nasty when the combo's out. Compound it by sacrificing Hokori at the end of your opponent's turn and then on your own turn either re-grabbing him with the Lantern and Lifespinner (if he died) or just replaying him (if Yomiji saved him). It's a virtual repeat of the Icy Manipulator / Winter Orb combo.

Any way, that's enough geekage for me at the moment. Back to work...
