I just finished watching " motorcycle diaries" that i rented from netflix (of course). It took me a good week or so to get around to watching it. My mom had rented it once already while i was away and my sister heather didn't like it too much. She actually said it was stupid. Well, I got around to watching half of it last night and then i got tired, went to sleep, and watched the rest of it this morning. I don't think the word " stupid" has any place in describing this movie. I found it to be very interesting and touching at times. I found that the development of ernesto ( che) in the movie was very well done. It was gradual and it gave so much meaning behind his later revolutionary pursuits..i guess you could call them. It's funny but the last two movies that i have rented thru netflix have been subtitled foreign films that i thought were excellent. I saw hero sometime last week and it was a beautiful movie. The cinematography was amazing. I watched hero with my sister heather and motorcycle diaries by myself because i have come to realize that when you propose to people to watch a movie with you and they find out that it is subtitled, the kinda lose interest. It is amazing how people can be turned off from a movie just because of subtitles. I prefer to watch a movie that is subtitled rather than dubbed. It helps keep the atmosphere/environment of the movie more authentic I guess is how you would put it. Anyways, I thought it was a good movie. It is awesome to think that two men just hopped on a motorcycle and crossed miles of south america just to go out and see their country. What an adventure. I would love to do something like that..only without the whole running out of money sleeping in the dirt thing...but you know what i mean? How cool would it be to travel the US just so you could see the country. Granted my mom took me, heather, and zack on a similar expedition when i was ten for 7 weeks across the US but just to camp and be around nature. I like nature too don't get me wrong, but these guys saw all types of things and would meet all different kinds of people and went into big cities as well as mountain ranges ( they even went to manchu pinchu)(sp?). And they were gone for a good 6 months traveling..how awesome is that? I don't know, maybe it is just the traveler bug in me, but i would love to go on an adventure, one of these days.
