Every new year is simply the day after the last day of the last year.

Every day is followed by another day, none more important than the others, only given significance when humans see fit to attach it.

Celebrate your New Year. There will only be so many more to come for you.

That seems a rather dreary opinion of the world.

It does. That there is no point in celebration because our time will end evuentually. Very defeatest.

Most everyone's time ends.

Celebrate all you want, I see no point in it, however, when this day is just like the day before, and the day that will come after.

Celebrate your life instead, on all days, not one.

I see. So then your problem isn't with celebrating the holiday, it's that other days should be celebrated just as much?

Why is this one more important?

A new calender year, but that's nothing anyone should be excited over on it's own.

The celebration isn't that it is a new year, it is a chance to remember all the good things that happened in the previous year, and look forward to things that come in the new year.

You should look forward to every day. Remember every day.

Of course, but in a world where you must work to survive, you don't often have the time to rest and think back. Holidays are a way for people to take a break from their normal lives, and spend the time relaxing and celebrating.

I don't see so much of that, here.

Surely you can guess.

I've got several guesses, but I don't see what guessing must be necessary when you can just state what you mean clearly.

It's for you to decide.

If you mean working to survive, many people do work quite hard to survive in the city. If you mean celebrating and relaxing, well the City does seem to do its best to keep us from doing that.
