Still no pictures, though I have taken some, of the many projects I'm juggling.
I trimmed a hat for Tiny Girl and am making a pincloth for her too. I also bought some very fine linen/cotton to make a new shift for her as I nearly ruined the first one in my haste. I continually pledge to do everything accurately and correctly, then throw that to the wind due to deadlines/waning interest.
The regimental has stalled. I'm concerned that even if the pattern fits well, once I make it up with a lining and heavier fabric, it will become too small. This uncertainty has brought me to a halt at the moment. (this is why so many of my projects never get finished, actually)
I bought a hard foam dress form after reading
Lauren's tutorial at American Duchess, and had DH give it a boob-ectomy. I'm - how you say - "fluffier" than the form, so I'm having to add a significant amount of padding all over. I'm kind of torn between making it my natural shape or my shape in stays. I guess I'll have to opt for the second, since that's primarily what I will use it for (with stays on it of course). I'm also trying to decide how much padding to use. I want it to compress naturally, but poly batting is nothing like flesh, so do I make it much bigger knowing it'll compress when I tighten the stays or try to make it close to my measurements? I think the former will work better in the end as layers of batting compress *a lot*. I am trying to give it a natural shape though, rather than just wrapping it around and around. We'll see.
