Christmas Catch-Up

Last night, we experimented with making syllabub. It actually turned out quite good! Here's the recipe we used:

1 cup heavy whipping cream
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup wine (it calls for white, but DH wanted red)
1/8 cup lemon juice
1 tsp lemon zest
Nutmeg to taste (we left this out)

Whip cream and sugar, gradually whip in wine, juice and zest

Ta da!

The first photo is books from my Amazon wish list (Yay, MIL who always buys stuff from my wishlist!). The CSA guide to preserving costumes from the last book photo should have been in with that as well.

The other books are mostly old library books that I picked out and Mom gave to me. The nondescript brown book is about antique jewelry. The "Dolls" book has more text on 18th century dolls than I've ever seen in one place.

I'm guessing the black silk item is meant to be a scarf of some sort. (one side is turned so you can see the underside) I love it because it's so frilly and delicate.
