I know a lot of other people have been mentioning it, too, but... that doesn't mean I shouldn't also extend my thanks...

Thank you, to whomever sent the paper crane to me. I really do appreciate it... it was very encouraging.... I wonder if I could make a thousand ( Read more... )

[four minutes later...]

Just a few minutes? I think I'm a little slow, though, I'm not sure...

So call it about five minutes. That's five thousand minutes of time invested for one thousand paper cranes. Minus five for the one you already made, that's four thousand nine hundred and ninety-five minutes. That's about eighty-three hours.

So it'd take about three and a half days of nonstop folding to get your thousand.

W- Well, I'd never think to work nonstop...

That's a lot...

Naturally. But that's the total amount of time you'll put in doing it, when all is said and done.

Three and a half days of your life in exchange for getting a wish granted isn't such a bad trade, really.

Mmm. And even if it didn't come true... it's worth a try.

Is it like wishing on a birthday cake, where you can't say what the wish is or else it won't come true?

I don't think so- well. I've never heard it's like that, at least.

Then what are you planning to wish for?

... For someone's health.

You could always try looking into genie lamps, instead. Then you'd get three.

That would be pretty lucky, huh?

Then I could wish for him, for China... and maybe one for me, if I don't have another wish.

Traditionally, the third wish gets used to set the captive genie free.

China could probably do okay without one, though, so you could still use the second one for yourself.
