As someone so recently told me, birth names are not always true names. But it is the one I'll answer to most often.

They are. Only recently though. Less than a decade ago.

That fact is very true. Sometimes a name given at birth is meant as protection, rather than weakness.

In my world they do not choose to be so visible.

They chose to be invisible for millenia. I've no doubt that we aren't seeing all there is to see now.
