Fred and I have been in the Virgin Islands for spring break, since Monday. The weather has been ideal. We watch the reports of snow back home and then look out the sliding glass doors to Caribbean blue water and palm trees blowing in the wind.
Fred has discovered he really enjoys kayaking, something he's never done before this trip. He likes it so much he's even talking about buying one.  Meanwhile, because I couldn't scuba this trip, I've confronted my anxiety over snorkeling. Turns out there are wonderful fish to see not 150 feet from our hotels beach! We also went on a snorkel day trip out to 4 of the British Virgin Islands. T was a long day, and I'm redder than I've been in years. With the water and breeze on you it feels so much cooler than it says it is. Plus, being on the boat, I had the reflection from the water all day -- which is what did me in.
The Rolex cup regatta has been going on for the past three days. We got up close yesterday to see some of the boats finish out a leg. The islands yacht club shares our little beach so there have been quite a few boats, I imagine, that are not usually here. Fred and I have been imaging which one was ours. ;) I'm torn between the beautiful 50ft sailboats we've seen and the large catamarans. Of course if we actually HAD the 2million to spend down here, we'd just buy the house we saw in the window of the real estate office.
Maybe next time we come here we'll bring the kids. By then they'll probably be 14,11,9 and5 --- the biggest ones able to try out some of the water sports.
-sigh-
We leave tomorrow.
I guess I'll just enjoy the tiny bit of island time I have left.
