I'm in Salvo.
To the west of the tiny isle of land (called The Outer Banks) is the Pamlico Sound, and to the east, the Atlantic Ocean.
(The sun rises from the Atlantic Ocean and sets into the Pamlico Sound. It's golden.)
I have been having a time like none other that I've ever had. The house is incredible.
A description of our dwelling, for my own lingual keepsake:
There are three floors. To enter the house, you walk up a staircase that slants to a focal point by both its design and the mechanics of the eye. It is a big staircase because the house, being flanked by water, is built on stilts. Once you open the glass front door, you are greeted by a staircase. Downstairs is the rec room, with a pool table, and an adjoining home theater room which, with its giant screen and two giant curved couches on stairs (one with a giant row of ottomen), is a ridiculous-looking room. Also the laundary room. The bottom floor leads out to the pool, hottub, and outdoor shower. If you walk into the front door and go one flight up, you'll find a hallway of master bedrooms. There are five bedrooms in total: four with queen-size beds, one with 3 sets of bunk beds, and all with full bathrooms. When you walk up those stairs from the front door, my room is to the left, on the left. One more floor up is the most beautiful part of the house - a single floor shared by a great kitchen, a dining table to seat ten, a set of comfy couches, and a stair observatory (a wing up a few stairs). The ceilings are high and all the windows are huge because of all the beautiful views. Out the kitchen's window, you can see the ocean. On the other wall, there's a door which leads to a great outdoor balcony. Separated by a twenty meters or so of marshes, it overlooks the sound. From up there, we view the most breathtaking sunsets into the sound. This place is unbelivable.
My room's walls are a shade of carefully bottled indigo sunset at its subtlest. The bed is large and white with a wooden frame. The bedding has seashells stiched in. There's a balcony that points to the front of the house, which is great. We've had a lot of fun in there.
Dan and I have been having such a wonderful time. We've had three sunny and bright beach days, and one sultry beach night (the first night here). The more I talk to him, and make love to him, and touch him, and see his face and feel his hands, the more I am in love with him. We have such a good time together. We need about the same amount of space. Every time we have a conversation, his ideas continue to open my mind. We spend hours reading together. His eyes continue to dazzle me. His every gesture does. His kindness.
Dan's mom is amazing. She is such a cool, strong-souled and strong-hearted woman. His father is great too, and Erin, and all of the other guests we've had here. (The Axelrods: Phil, Susie, Emily and Eric - Phil and Larry went to Ohio State together; Larry's sister Debbie, her husband Morry, and for a bit, their son Mike and his friend Jamie; Dan's cousin, Christina and her fiance, Brandon. She's awesome.) The guests, except Christina and Brandon, are leaving at dawn tomorrow, and so for the second week it's going to be just Larry, Diane, Erin, Dan, and meself. It sucks for Erin that Emily wont be here anymore, because they have a lot of fun together. But it will be nice to have less people in the house. Dan can get a full bedroom back, expanding our real estate.
We've been having a lot of sex. Good sex. A lot. :D
Besides the above commonality, as well as some drinking (which Larry and Diane let us do fully) and some pot smoking, nights here have been suprising diverse. One night, 25 or so people were here for dinner (Dan's somewhat-distant family that happened to be in the area). Night one, we had sex on the beach. Yesterday, we went out to a disgusting seafood place called Dirty Dicks somethingsomething, and then we went go-carting. Tonight, we had a fire on the beach. Things will soon be slower-paced.
Dan turned in early tonight because he has to leave at 5:15 am tomorrow to go scuba diving with Larry (unfortunetly i cannot come - not even for snorkeling), which is why I've had this nice chance to update my journal.
