A Nice Saturday.

Last weekend, I had almost nothing on my schedule. For the first time in a long time, had a Saturday and a Sunday with almost nothing to do. Usually, that means I skip town and go visit someone, but I was really looking forward to doing nothing this time.

So, when I got a text from my friends Kim & Jon on Friday telling me they were bored and wanted to hang out, I wasn't immediately excited - the thought of heading into suburbia sounded totally the opposite of "nothing." Fortunately, they thought a mini-excursion away from buildings sounded nice to them, too. The weather was beautiful on Saturday and so we met down in Utica and did some hiking at Matthieson State Park.

It was so nice to just go on a leisurely, Saturday drive - listening to my favorite NPR programming, driving through the empty cornfields, enjoying the sunshine and open road. I hadn't done that in forever.

We met up and had lunch in a tired looking bar and just hung out. I ate a burger, which I had been talking about eating for at least a week. (I love burgers. LOVE them!) We walked off the burgers hiking up and down into a gorge at the Park. It's the kind of thing that I love doing and don't often choose for myself. It was the perfect change of pace and a really great day to be outside.

I went home and had a movie night. Ate too much popcorn, watched The Fighter, and drank my weight in tea. I couldn't have asked for a better day, it was definitely worth noting.
