Transport.

I had a meeting with the University Environmental Coordinator a couple of days ago to discuss the University Transport Strategy, which I am helping write.

It was probably the most exciting meeting I have ever been to. It turns out that the University has finally decided to start taking transport seriously, and that some big changes are on the way. I've been asked to come up with measures that the University needs to implement to become more alternative transport friendly and to encourage people to get out of their car and use a more sustainable mode of transport.

It's exciting because they aren't talking about the usual lip service to sustainable transport (put in a few bikes racks and some bus information). They are talking about massive changes to bring the University more into line with other environmentally friendly universities in Europe and North America.

Which would make it a New Zealand first.
