Yes We Did
As I reflect on the enormity of this election, I can't help but wonder if this was how it felt to elect JFK and Reagan. I was young and in a divided household during the Reagan election, and JFK was before my time, but these are the elections that come to mind right now.
Of course the other thing that comes to mind is 1994. And here I think of this both in terms of party triumph and object lesson. Hopefully we will learn from those lessons and try to find common ground with our political rivals instead of deepening the divisions.
