Babies are okay, I can handle babies.
But they grow up into five- and nine-year-olds that annoy me like nothing else. *growl*
I suppose I should explain. My cousins are visiting from Wisconsin; Hannah is 9, Sarah is five, and they're both absolutely horrible in ways I can hardly describe.
I had no idea they were coming today, so when they burst into my room I was just in a tank-top and shorts. As if that wasn't horrifying enough, Sarah immediately started yelling, "I CAN SEE YOUR BRA!!!" and I could hear their dad laughing. Uuugh. Then they stayed to watch everything I did, trying to push my hand so I would make mistakes with my make-up and so on. Hilarious.
I was in the middle of reading The Bell Jar (which I finally bought yesterday, along with many other things that cost way too much.), so I tried starting that again, only to be immediately interrupted by, "Play with me! Play with me noooooooooowwwwwwwww!!!" So, I went to play, as my heart is not completely made of stone, but after having pieces of both a doll house and a Pretty, Pretty Princess game thrown at my face, I kind of lost the mood and went back upstairs.
They did not take kindly to this, and I was verbally and physically maimed for the rest of the day. Mostly physically, when they figured out that calling me "mean", "boring", and "ick" didn't work. They started hitting me with a STICK. First of all, where did they find a freakin' stick in my house? And secondly, who taught them to beat up their cousins?
I was happy to see them go, as sad as that is.
It will probably be different with my own kids, but even so.
