My transgender elevator speech

Mar 07, 2017 12:07

"Unless you are in front of a transgender human being while experiencing a reciprocated desire to get busy, what's under their clothes and what they get up to with it is none of your business. These are things that are inappropriate areas of idle speculation for any other group, and that should be true of every group."

How's that?

let's get political

My question about the "bathroom bills" is how in the world is it enforceable? A guard outside the door to check everyone's junk and compare it to their birth certificate?

Better not give them ideas. They already have too many about how men might "fake" being transgender to get into the ladies room for a thrill. Not only do they not get that being trans isn't just how you dress, they also have no idea how boring it is in the ladies room. There are already laws if someone actually do something against someone else in a bathroom, so there's no need for something specific regarding one's junk. Other than the GOP are really obsessed with people's junk.

Cismen definitely don't want to hear what's going on in the ladies room I PROMISE.

They seem to think it's a lesbian orgy every day. Nope, that's only on Tuesdays.

Ugh, it's well known at my office that I have sound sensitivity (misophonia). I have murderous thoughts when people eat, especially. This causes people to walk on eggshells - someone IMed me today to ask if I could hear them crunching. "No," I said, "and it doesn't matter. I don't expect anyone to change their lives based on my neuroses." To which she replied, "But isn't that the American way? I mean, think about who can use the bathroom depending on how they want to dress that day."

UGH. No. I pointedly told her this wasn't a subject to broach with me especially in this fashion, as I found her remark pretty offensive.

And notice how there isn't much uproar at the idea of a trans man using a men's room as a trans woman using a women's room?

This brave new world of people thinking now they can say whatever they want and it's not offensive but "real" is making me side-eye some people very hard. Just don't be a dick and consider others before you open your piehole. It's not a difficult rule to live by.
