Taylor Hicks, “You Send Me”
Jenn: I’d say this was a bad song choice for Taylor, but I honestly can’t think of what he could have sung that would have been better. It just wasn’t him. And “What a Wonderful World” wasn’t Chris, but at least he hit it out of the park. Taylor was just normal Taylor, and I was just bored. Definitely not one of the better performances of the night.
BAD SONG CHOICE? CHRIST HIT IT OUT OF THE PARK?
BORED?? BORED???? NOT ONE OF THE BETTER..of the night???
I am thinking I watched a different show that this person!
Sandy: Another great song choice! Taylor gave this song his own flair and it worked. Even the trademark goofy dancing bit at the end worked. Taylor has really grown on me and I am glad to see they haven’t colored his hair. It’s part of who he is and definitely makes him unique. As Randy said, he kept it real, and once again I am impressed! I have a feeling this is going to be a rough week when it comes to elimination time.
Tyler: Look out, ‘50s Night! This episode may just trump you! True, this was not the strongest vocal of the night, but with the dancing and overall Taylor-ocity of it all, I still enjoyed it very much. At this point, I wouldn't advise against putting money on Mr. Hicks. Vocals: 22. Performance: 14. Other: 9. Total: 45.
David: Taylor’s performance was good, but not great. His voice just didn’t seem big enough to fill the song. He picked it up at the end and stuck the landing, but it just didn’t compare to Paris or Chris.
CHRIS? - Oh PLEASE! This is sickening!!!
Bruce: After several lackluster weeks I’m falling in love with this show again. For a lot of the viewers themes like Big Band and The Great American Songbook are boring and I understand why, but for me they force these singers into genres where vocal perfectionism isn’t an option, but a requirement. It is these particular weeks that separate the Kelly Clarksons from the rest of the pack and make them really stand out. Taylor stood out. His performance oozed style and class and when he gave himself over to the song at the end he took one of music’s simplest lyrics and filled it with a profound passion that only a talented few can approach on a stage.
These are the ones I have to dwell upon!
I think I have officially gone around the bend. I am arguing with a bunch of words written by people I don't even know. I gotta go watch 'The Amazing Race' and calm down so I can say a proper goodbye to Ace.....
