A moment to rant...
Just let me a brief moment to rant. Please no comments with like "you're overreacting" cause it wouldn't happen.
We had a focus group today for extra credit. One of the graduate courses in Research Methods is conducting a study and had us fill out a survey and participate in this focus group. We were talking about how college students view the work environment. We had questions like what would be an ideal job setting, what we want our boss to be like, etc, etc. One of the questions was what are our biggest fears. I know for a fact that mine is not finding a job at all.
My dad is very...supportive and wants to see his daughters suceed. He has told me that I must get internships and I must have job experience because there are 10,000 college students with Communication degrees that are all vying for the same jobs. I know that. So I'm scared that I won't be doing enough or other people will have had more work experience. Every tiny thing that may have some impact on my career I try to take. If I can't take it, I feel incredibly guilty about it. Like that's the one thing that will distinguish my resume from everyone else's.
Hopefully after a couple internships, this feeling will subside. Or at least calm down until senior year. But it's scary and it's totally my biggest fear.
