There's a very interesting article about taboos linked from Slashdot, you can find it there or go read it
directly if you'd like. If it doesn't make you say Hmm you're either way ahead of the curve, or you need to take a closer look at yourself.
In other words, I haven't posted much lately. Things got outright silly at work for a while, and then there was the holiday, and I've been enjoying mellowness. It's nice to have time off. Next up, more things that are painfully obvious.
In other news, tomorrow I'm back to work. Cute thing is, I don't go in until 5 P.M. and I'm not getting out until midnight at best, most likely closer to 4 A.M. Gotta love major application rollouts that just HAVE to be done on the closed, end of year books and really need to be done before this year's books can be opened. Still, we've been doing dry-runs for a week and a half, and while we were in good shape at the beginning, we're downright solid now.
I didn't know the fifth Dark Tower book was out until I opened it Fishmas afternoon. I'm about 2/3 of the way through now, and enjoying it. After this, I'm gonna read some Asimov in preparation for I, Robot coming out. I hear great things about the guy's writing, and have yet to actually read any of it. Well, I'm going to soon, and we'll know better then, won't we? I have sitting on my desk Earth is Room Enough and The Martian Way. If there's anything else I should read, point me at it. Though I like SciFi, I don't generally read much, sticking normally to fantasy. For a quick list of the SciFi I liked, there's Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card, Armor by John Stakely (think I misspelled his surname) and the Star Wars stuff that Timothy Zahn wrote.
Hm, I gotta find my copy of Armor and read that again. I read Ender's Game once or twice a year, just like Illuminatus! and enjoy it every time.
Hope y'all had a good Fishmas, and a safe New Year.
