Close Quarters is this weekend, and while it felt a little touch and go there for a while, it looks like everything's mostly in order, and I'm totally excited. The loss of my little Arnold, which was two years ago today, cast a bit of a pall for me over the first one. Minotaur's death made preparations for this one tough going for a bit, but at least by now, right before the con, I'm not a total wreck the way I was two years ago. I'm really looking forward to it. And all the work I did for the first CQ made this one quite a bit easier to prepare for.
But I've still been sort of frantic, and much of the reason for that was my almost-last-minute decision to try to have my second zine, Never Far Apart 2, finished in time for CQ. And thanks to herculean efforts by authors, artists, the printer, and me *g*, it happened! It's done!
So: this is the unofficial announcement of Never Far Apart 2, my second Professionals (Bodie/Doyle) slash zine. It's a monster: 250 pages, 235,000 words, with stories by the following 11 authors:
Aerye
Angelfish
Asymphototropic
Callisto
Felicity M. Parkinson
FJBryan
JGL
JoJo
PFL
P.R. Zed
The Hag
Plus five pieces of color artwork by Lorraine Brevig and ten pieces of color artwork by Suzan Lovett.
There are three stories of more than 40,000 words - one of which (by Angelfish) is 80,000 words, almost a novel in itself.
This is just an unofficial announcement - the zine isn't up on the
Justazine website yet, and I'm not taking orders. I still have to work out pricing and - even more problematic, given the size of the zine - postage. I'll get all that sorted and set up after Close Quarters.
NFA2 will, however, be available for purchase at CQ (no advance order required)! Yay!
