I thank you, my friend for saving me and escorting me to safety.

This place... There is so much death and sadness here even with just the one day that I have been here...

Ah! Forgive me, I am Father Abel Nightroad, a travelling priest of the Vatican. At least I was back home. Would anyone be kind enough to direct me to a church? I believe that ( Read more... )

Death and sadness seems to be an unfortunate human trait.

Yes... While I have known my fair share, I would like to help out and possibly aid in the passing of such.

I've been told that death is not a permanent state here, for better or worse. That will, at least, be one less misfortune to occur.

Death is not permanent here? I wonder how many weary souls are here because of that.

I don't know. There are some here that died where ever they came from, though, whereas those that die here are brought back to life a day later.

The whole concept of death is being trivialised by this place. It makes me wonder just what this place is meant to be.

Are these scientists trying to replace God? Make themselves as gods?

I am starting to wonder that myself and perhaps... My reason for being here is connected to that.

It does seem like that is the case.

I did wonder if this were meant to be a kind of Purgatory, although it now doesn't seem possible. After all, there are people here who haven't died, as far as they know.

Ah, my apologies, Father. I am Ryou Naruse.

Then may God have pity on their souls.

I was quite alive when they brought me here as I was speaking to a woman named Asta.

It is a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Ryou Naruse... A Japanese?

As was I. I still wondered, though.

Likewise, Father. And yes, Japanese.

If was I was dead then I believe that I would perfer to stay dead.

Ah, my apologies... In my world... There are no more Japanese people alive. It makes it a greater pleasure and blessing to speak to one.

I'm certain I would. The dead shouldn't been brought back, no matter how much one might wish for it to be.

...None? May I ask what happened?

I am glad that we think the same way. The dead should remain dead.

Yes... It is history, old history but a war broke out many years ago and we humans decided to use a weapon that brought about our own destruction. The only remaining piece of land is what you may call Europe. That is all that remains.

...I'm not sure that I can think of anything suitable to say.

It happened hundreds of years ago. My apologizes for mentioning something unpleasant to you.

I asked; you shouldn't feel the need to apologise.

Where I am from, there are still wars ongoing, but nothing to that scale. It would be niice to hope that it won't ever reach that scale.

I shall offer my prayers for it to never come to pass.

Perchance, just how long have you been here?
