[TM] I've had enough of travel, I'm ready to be in one place.

Apr 21, 2007 18:43

Eve had been from one coast to the other in a short span of a week, and even that seemed surreal to her. In the days of working for Wolfram and Hart that sort of travel was easier... fast jets... realms of transdimensional travel, and the White Room made jet-lag something of the past. It seemed sort of pedestrian of her to travel through airports ( Read more... )

Eve laughed under her breath, "Right.. cause Lindsey knows what *I* went through, while he was in Rome. He..." Eve cut herself off, trying hard to maintain some form of composure as Joe continued on moving toward her on the couch, then walking away again. She listened biting her tongue more than a few times ( ... )

Ultimately, the story mattered little to Joseph when he saw the tears that stood in her eyes. When she moved towards him, he wasted no time in wrapping his arms around her, tucking her head against his chest as he bent to press a kiss to the top of her head ( ... )

Eve smiled, burying her head against his chest, a slight laugh slipping free for a moment. She wasn't sure if he had the same sort of understanding that the man that he was pissed at wasn't the man that hurt her. She couldn't shove them into the same category, not in the least, she could barely think of them as ever being the same man, given the situations that she had been in with both of them ( ... )

"Yeah...a few hundred, and all of 'em IQ." he snorted, cradling her cheek and swiping his thumb under her eye to make sure there were no signs of a tear that might have escaped. Leaning in, he kissed her eyelids softly, holding her just a little bit tighter. Yeah, he was probably being stubborn, and he hated that he'd upset her...but facts were facts as he saw them, and he couldn't change that ( ... )

She knew she wasn't going to make him see things the same way she did when it came to Lindsey, and in a small way Lindsey... this Lindsey had hurt her once upon a time when he never came back for her. There were reasons behind it all, and it wasn't something she could actually blame him for. Eve knew that somethings just weren't meant to happen, and if Lorne had told her she was destined to have a good time in her life, she still wouldn't have believed a word of it as truth ( ... )

Joseph narrowed his eyes at her, trying to wrap his head around exactly where he was at right now. She was *still* pissed at him, they still didn't agree...this Lindsey thing was still a problem, and probably always would be.

But she was still here in his arms...and she still *did* look at him like she loved him.

He was the luckiest guy alive, and for two cents he'd make an honest woman of her if he thought he could actually hack it in a real family. But for now...he had it made, and he wouldn't screw with a perfect situation.

"Yeah, well...yer beautiful when yer starving, and yer even more beautiful when yer angry." he grumbled, leaning in to kiss her warmly with a gravelly sigh and pure affection shining from his eyes. "C'mon, you can yell at me some more after we feed that sexy face."

Shrugging her shoulders up a bit in his arms she sighed, "See compliments? Actually do work on me, fairly well. It's the whole never had a real father influence thing. No pat on the head for a job well done, so the positive? Good."

Grinning she leaned up and pressed her lips to his for a moment until her own smile cracked against his, "Yeah as much as I could be distracted to the point of not wanting to eat at the moment? I am starving!"

Slipping from his arms she made her way to the table where the food had been set down and picked up her container and shifted up back up onto the table top, letting her feet swing. Horrible for her posture in the long run, but completely adorable for getting Joe over the fact that she wasn't going to see things his way anytime soon when it came to Lindsey.

Joseph knew when he was licked, and 'henpecked' was a word that came to mind when it came to dealing with Eve. The other word meant the same and was a lot ruder, but from his standpoint it had a more negative connotation ( ... )

Food happily being eaten she watched as Joe held something in a bit, and it was more in how he didn't want to do something... in his less than thrilled looked and the shake off he gave himself.

It concerned Eve, and suddenly winning the argument about Lindsey was the furthest thing from her mind. Setting the food down she closed the top and picked up a napkin wiping her mouth off before she carefully slid off the table top, "Hey... uh, you don't look so hot. I mean usually I wouldn't say that... but I mean really? Death just smacked you upside the head or something. What's up?"

Joseph shook his head, shrugging. "Nah...I'm good." he insisted gruffly. "I'm..."

Just then his stomach lurched and his throat contracted violently.

"...gonna hurl."

Covering his mouth, he bolted for the bathroom. He got there just in time to stop himself from making a really *huge* mess. When he was done retching, he slowly got to his feet and moved away from the toilet to rinse his mouth out in the sink. As he did, he thought...hard. How the hell was he going to palm this off and keep Eve from...

...standing in the doorway, giving him The Look in the mirror when he lifted his head after spitting out some water.

"Shit." he cursed under his breath, stalling by dipping his head again to splash some cool water on his face.

He was doing a pretty good job of shrugging it off, but he couldn't hold onto it for as long as it seemed he wanted to. Eve was worried, but more worried that he seemed to be protecting her from whatever was wrong with him. Heading to the kitchen sink she grabbed a glass from the shelf and found a bottle of water in the fridge. Cracking the cap she filled the glass half way and then rummaged around until she found the can of Sprite as well. Cracking the tab she poured that into the glass the rest of the way and made her way to the bathroom where thankfully she had missed the show ( ... )
