Eve had been from one coast to the other in a short span of a week, and even that seemed surreal to her. In the days of working for Wolfram and Hart that sort of travel was easier... fast jets... realms of transdimensional travel, and the White Room made jet-lag something of the past. It seemed sort of pedestrian of her to travel through airports

Yeah, he was more in love than he thought...pissed off to beat all hell, and all he wanted was to touch her again. *Then* he'd chew her out.
"I missed the ever-lovin' fuck outta you." he rumbled, resting his forehead against hers for a moment. It wasn't like he'd been pining for her the whole time she'd been gone...wished she was around, sure. Reached for her at night without thinking and coming up empty, yeah. But life went on...he wasn't hurting.
Until now. Now, it felt like ages since he'd seen her, and just hugging her was a pleasure as he did just that, wrapping her in a fierce embrace and kissing the top of her head. She smelled good...must have taken a bath or a shower or something, because he could make out the sweetness of her soap on her skin.
When he finally drew back, he finally met her gaze, a smile in his eyes and his usual scowl on his face. "So...you *know* you ain't gonna get a chance to eat standing there with no shirt on, right? 'Cause I may just skip to dessert right now..."

She wasn't sure how long he had been outside before he had come inside, but she could feel the warmth from the outdoors on him as he pulled her close. Her breath would hitch up in her lungs as he leaned in to kiss her, halting pretty much all the coherent thought that she had going for her the moment, and when he pulled away she could only smile softly before smirking, "See more facts, I'm thinking I should start a collection. I'd ask how much you missed me but despite you claiming that I'm not going to get a chance to eat? I'd like to attempt it, shirtless and all."
Meeting his eyes she grinned brightly at him, slipping out of his arms and moving over to where he had set the bag of food down. She pulled at the top until the staples popped and started pulling containers out until she grabbed the bag that had the fortune cookies. Shifting herself up onto the table itself she opened the cellophane and cracked the cookie in half, her feet swinging carelessly as she popped a piece into her mouth and read the fortune.
She laughed and read it along for him, "I cheat... big deal, here listen to this, 'The great pleasure in life is doing what people say you cannot do.' Which sounds like more fact for me."
Setting the other half of her cookie down she grabbed a pair of chopsticks and opened up a container and took a piece of carrot into the ends, "So... are you going to watch me eat? Or join me? Or... is there something already on me?" Eve looked down at herself, "Nope, just the bra, and I'm sorry to disappoint but while I eat? It's staying on."

And here she was eating stir-fried vegetables in her bra and giving him that coy, playful little look...with him. Not with anybody else.
"I might be swayed into a bite." he finally acquiesced, walking over to lean in with a small smirk. "Or maybe just a taste."
He kissed her then, catching the tang of soy sauce still on her lips from her bite of food before he pulled away, settling back into his usual broody expression as he reached into her container and plucked out a snow pea sticking straight out. Popping it into his mouth, he chewed thoughtfully for a moment as he regarded her, then swallowed.
"So...you and Lindsey, eh?"

Still with Joe at the firm, and Lindsey's new promotion she figured it was just better for all parties involved that it never be addressed, because how simple is it to bring up your ex-boyfriend that had to kill your ex-boyfriend just so there was only one of him around to be considered an ex-boyfriend.
Not wanting to take the container he had stolen from her back Eve grabbed a new one and popped it open, almost completely avoiding the fact that Joe had mentioned Lindsey's name. If anything the extra time was going to give her extra time to think up something good as to why she didn't tell him, or at least think that eventually they would figure it out. You know, if they ever actually spoke to each other. Which means, if Joe knew, then someone told him and that someone was probably Lindsey himself... and maybe that was even worse than Eve telling him.
"Maybe I should have told you, but it's just not exactly the easiest thing to bring up. He works at the firm... he's got both coasts of Special Projects... I didn't want it to become some sort of pissing contest, and trust me I have a good idea that it would head that direction." Eve stated as if once again she knew fact from everything else.
Her instinct was to ask what happened, what was said... what Lindsey said... about her, but instead she put food into her mouth and started to chew, crossing her leg over the other at the knee and watching him react.

For a moment he just paced, not saying anything, then finally turned to face her. "I'm just *pissed*, y'know? You *should* have told me...and not for that. I get that...you tryin' to do us both a solid, and he's yer ex. Yer entitled to still care." He paused finally advancing on her again, not with malice, but simple agitation.
"What pisses me off," he finally admitted with a growl, "is that I had him. I had him *weeks* ago when he gave me shit at school...and all I did was break his fuckin' nose!! I could have kicked the *shit* out of him, but I didn't have a clue!!"

The whole protective boyfriend thing was nice at times, but this? This was taking it a step and a mile too far in her opinion. She hopped down off the table, setting her food down and grabbing the container out of his hand. If she was going to get violent she didn't want him dropping food all over her new floors.
Setting his container down she moved in on him, her eyes narrowed and near pissed off, "Excuse me? You're mad because I made you miss out on a chance to beat him up? Are you high? Are you insane? Why the hell would you do that? Don't try to pull any of this macho bullshit either, because honestly I know you can be a pain in the ass at times, but that's different. This is my history, you hardly have any idea what I went through, or how hard it was for me to even get to a point where I could even let you near me, and you tell me that you're pissed because you didn't get to beat him up more than you did at the time?"
Her finger was pointed at him, poking him in the chest a bit harder with each statement, the anger and frustration building up as she talked, "You know I could handle you being pissed at me because I lied, or didn't tell you, but this? This is pissing *me* off now."
She let her finger up and moved across the room grabbing the shirt that she had previously discarded and tugged it over her head, huffing a bit out of frustration, and muttering beneath her breath a bit about the whole situation. She wanted to hit him, but she wasn't sure if she'd actually hurt him or not given how upset she was.
Sitting on the couch she folded her arms shaking her head a few times, she had lashed out, but with reason. Now however she was getting a bit of the insight as to just how closed off she had been about it all. Maybe if she had told him everything... maybe he wouldn't have thought that it was something Lindsey deserved the blame for. Sure Lindsey could handle a bit of the blame, but she'd have preferred it all just stayed in the past, not getting brought up just so her ex didn't have to threaten her current boyfriend.

Shaking it off, he simply stood there and let her poke and push at him, saying nothing right up until she flounced over to the couch and pulled her shirt back on, which in and of itself was disappointing.
He was angry, and justifiably so...at least sort of. What he hated most was that some of what Pinhead had said made a small measure of sense, and Eve...well, she was sorta justified being pissed at him for wanting to hurt Lindsey so badly. And it wasn't just Breal custom that made him want to break a few limbs on the guy...beating her former lover was well within his rights, at least among the purebloods of his clan, but even he had to give in to the fact that he wouldn't be justified in killing Lindsey unless he planned to propose.
It wasn't just cultural bias eating at him...it was just what she'd talked about: how skittish she had been in the beginning. She'd been hurt, badly, and Lindsey was the one who hurt her.
"I talked to him, y'know, so yeah...I got an idea of what you went through." he finally snapped, standing with his hands on his hips. "I know there was two of the guy, but you know what? Evil twin or no, he hurt you. I saw that much, and I'll bet cash money it's in the blood."
His temper drove him to move again, advancing towards her so he could glare down at her as he spoke. "Plus, and here's a news flash for ya: I ain't a nice fuckin' guy. I wanna kick his ass, I'm gonna kick his ass and *like* it, and I might not even need a fucking *reason!* Problem is, I had one this time and I just didn't know it! Know why? You didn't tell me."
He paused, running a hand back through his hair with a growl of frustration as he paced away again. "I mean...fuck, look who we are! I get you lying...but you didn't. Not even by omission, yer business is your own. And keepin' secrets? Shit, ain't a goddamn thing wrong with that...but where I come from? Someone hurts the girl you love, then by God you tear that asshole a new asshole to pay him back. It's only right!"
