cheating death, sort of.
i wasn't doing much at school and it felt like a nice calm day, good enough to fly solo on. i figured that i hadn't done much flying on my own in a while so i should brush up on it. the pre-flight checks went fine, but on takeoff this black soot starts flying at me from some of the front vents. i'd just barely gotten off the ground when all this stuff starts flying into my face, my mouth...and eyes. it was a little hazy today so i didn't bother with sunglasses. i'm already too high off the ground and too far down the runway to sink back, so my only option was to keep flying and land immediately. that's what i did, and thankfully everything worked out ok. i'm coughing, but still alive!!
man, this is going to be filed under freak air happenings, up there when i had a bee in the cabin. no, this was a little worse. but not as bad as if i'd had snakes in the plane. :-)
on a happier note, i saw this southern country style restaurant while i was driving the other day that i want to try. someone come with me!!
