If you don't want to read this, then at least scroll down to the end and participate in the game (pretty please, its for an assignment)!
So I've been meaning to post for quite some time now, but somehow manage to keep getting sidetracked by many other things that I've had to do lately. So I suppose I'll start with a little bit of a recap. I animated a 2.5 minute music video in class last month to a song by Barnes and Barnes in After Effects. It turned out nicely and won second place in the animation contest that we had for our class at school. All of the highschool kids from Highschool Art Day voted on it and I only missed first place by 2 votes, dark that starwars video. I know its nothing big, but I was excited. I would post it online for everyone to see, but I have no idea how or where to do that so I haven't.
Senior show is coming up, I have to have my works turned in next monday and I have oh so much left to do still. However after the show is complete, the semesters end will soon follow and at that point, I will have only 10 hours between me and graduation. I get to take a traditional animation class next semester, as well as an independent study class with my current computer animation teacher so that I can hopefully get something togther to present to someone for a job or at least a grad school. Aside from that I'm taking senior capstone and drawing IV, and depending on whether or not the anthropology class that I took at UK transfers I may have to take a geography class, but if it does transfer then I might pick up photography. I get every friday off and I don't think i have to get up too early, so it shall be nice.
I have an internship this summer at the new art gallery in town, I'm not sure how I feel about it, but I guess I shouldn't judge it until I give it a shot. They're supposed to call me back closer to the end of the semester to give me more details.
As of right now, I am sitting in a hotel room in Chicago, I came with the Visual Arts Guilde and we're basicly just touring the city. We got here on thursday and we wandered around a bit, looked at memorial park, it has a really nice stage area, i would call it an ampitheater, but the acoustics aren't really all that great.
Just some random pictures taken from the van on the way into the city. The drive wasn't too bad, Johnathan, Jason, Nita and I talked about complete randomness in between falling asleep due to the insanely strange music coming from Gary's iPod.
Here's a picture of the city from the street, also included is a picture of the giant shiny bean of magical-ness. Actually its just a really massive and awesome sculpture in memorial park. We couldn't find the placard (sp) to see who created it, but I'm sure a quick google search would figure it out, I just don't feel like searching right now.
Pictures of our group and the bean, the cool circular one is from underneath the bean.
Don't use flash under the bean, it blinds 'everybody' oye. -_-
On day two we went to the Art Institute of Chicago and some photography museum, we also dropped by the Shedd Aquarium so that I could see the penguins. Between all of those places we probably walked about 5-6 miles not to mention the mileage inside those places and it seemed to matter which direction we walked it was 'against' the wind. We took the sidewalk next to Lake Michigan it was really really cold and really really pretty.
Day three we were forced by the flip of a coin and guilt from our professor to attend the visit to the Museum of Contemporary Art. There were some Warhols there if that's your cup of tea, and there was also a creepy instillation piece about hitler, however the majority of the museum was filled with blank white wall space. The lines that you weren't supposed to cross were laid out by long pieces of scotch tape placed on the floor. I wasn't impressed, but I'm not a huge fan of contemporary art.
I'm sleep now, so I will post the pictures of days two and three tomorrow. For now I could use some help on an assignment that I'm working on, its for German Art History and I need some people to participate in the Exquisite Corpse Game.
For those of you that have never heard of the game, there are two versions. One is a drawing version which we wont be doing here because its just too complicated to set up online, however a snail mail version of this game would eventually be very awesome, but maybe I'll try that another time. There is also a text version of this game, which is the one that I will be doing.
The Rules:
The sentence will begin with "The Exquisite Corpse" and then the next person will add something on to it.. like "was walking down Wabash Blvd." and then they will post "and then he" or "but suddenly" something like that. However the next person posting a comment should only see "and then he" So I'd like for you guys reading this, if it isn't too much trouble, to send me an e-mail or an offline message to XandriaJade@yahoo.com of what the exquisite corpse has done, and then post in my comment box your "and then he"'s and "But suddenty"'s.
Once everyone has commented I'll post the finished story as a journal entry. Thanks ^_^
