It's highly likely that there's something wrong with your mechanic when you find him staring at the same carburetor for an hour, am I right?

Pretty sure I'm right.

Staring?

Staring. Pretty sure he meant to be fixing, but he seemed to be sticking with the staring rather intently.

Like, something else is on his mind, staring?

Possibly. Why? Should he have something on his mind?

He doesn't talk to you?

Sure he does. He even, on occasion, manages to talk to me about you. I just want to know if there's something specific he should have on his mind that you may just want to know about.

Like, being an inside man?

No. Because there's no guarantee I'll actually tell you. The verdict is still out on my opinion on you at the moment.

Is it? Am I dealing with one angry Lara, then?

No. Just trying to see what I'm going to get out of it. See, I want Garrett to stay in LA. If you drive him back to Iowa, I would be very unhappy.

Very, very unhappy.

How unhappy?

Your car will never be decently repaired while you're living here ever again. I can guarantee it.

I know people.

Did you just blackmail me?

Not at all. I want Garrett to be happy. If it doesn't work, it doesn't work. But if he cites you as his reason for leaving LA, I can be rather manipulative.

Just giving you fair warning as the best friend of the guy you're trying to woo.

Woo? Lady, I'm no Romeo. Take it up with Garrett what he's doing because from my side, I want him to stay. I want to continue being his friend and yeah, I want to be more.

I think woo is an incredibly appropriate word because Garrett is playing the oldest dating game known as hard to get.

And I know all this. But he wants what he wants. So I think your best move would be to give it to him.

And keep him out of Iowa.
