I finally finished the seventh Harry Potter book. I have only one question: Why are the last four books so sad? I mean, I know death happens, but I don't think I've cried so much reading a book since Charlotte's Web--and that's really sad!

Life gets harder the older you get, Mollywog, and Harry got older every year, and his life was always going to be harder than most people's. And they were at war. War is not a happy time, but look at it this way, they still found things to be happy about, right? Marriages and babies being born, and people falling in love and friendships enduring through really hard times. They're not all sad.

I know life is hard--believe me, I do--but it doesn't make it any less sad, you know?

I know. I think the writer was just trying to be honest, and was giving her readers credit for being strong and mature enough to handle sad things?

I know that and I really liked the series, but it doesn't make it any less sad. And with Harry, I relate to him a lot, too, so whenever something happens to make me really relate to him--I feel even sadder.

Gotta admit, I stopped at Goblet of Fire, but only because my ex-wife's still reading the rest and won't let me have 'em except in order. I'm really bad about skipping ahead to the end of stuff. Are the last four really that sad?
