I've just spent an hour consoling a child who believes she is a freak of nature because a human told her she was. What bothers me more is I can't promise her that as she gets older, that the prejudice will stop.

All she wanted to do was gift someone with a flower, which she grew in her hand. That's more of a miracle than a threat.

The world will always fear us, no matter what we do.

That fear is easier to accept when you're older, but she's only six.

Still it's better to tell her the truth then allowing them to believe anything different. It wont ever stop, and she should be told that.

I did, only she doesn't understand what's going on right now. She's taking it more as a personal rejection.

If you told her the truth, it's up to her to realize it.

In time, I'm sure she will. It still doesn't make it any less heartbreaking.

Of course not, it's a sad sad world when you realize that you're going to be ostracized for the rest of your life just because of the way you were born.
