Another one bites the dust [Open]

Most nights on the job ended with a couple of scrapes and a bruise or two. Most nights saw her hitting up a bar and dancing or finding someone to go home with. This wasn't one of those nights.

Faith lay in the graveyard clutching her side and trying not to curse to high heaven when she felt the blood trickling from between her fingers. She hadn't recognized what breed of demon it was at first since she'd never actually seen one, but she'd found out soon enough. Miquot demon, complete with the retractable blades in his forearms and sharklike teeth that were the species' trademark. The teeth she had managed to avoid, if only just, and it had left her open enough for the bastard to get one of those blades between her ribs. Ignoring the pain that flared in her side, Faith swung the axe she'd brought up and cleaved the thing's leathery head off.

Stumbling over to one of the mausoleums, she’d collapsed to catch her breath. A hospital visit was inevitable for this one, and she was going to be pissed if they tried to say anything about surgery. Gazing down at the jagged gash in her skin, Faith sighed.

“That’s gonna leave a scar.”
