Cocktail

So, since I got my Mac, I've sort of had this leftover feeling from Windows that there should be more drudgework involved somewhere. Where's the defrag? And what are these permissions I keep reading about? And since I wasn't sure what I was looking for, my Google-fu was failing me.

Enter The Cocktail.

(Get it? Google-fu, classic Bruce Lee flick? I kill myself.)

Cocktail puts a nice, easy interface on maintenance. Particularly important since I remember next to nothing about UNIX and sold off my reference books a while back. It allows you to set up scheduled maintenance to clear caches, repair those permissions, check disk status and all that under the hood stuff. And it makes interface tweaks a snap.

Best of all, a single-user license is only 14.95. And fifteen bucks is, for me, a small price to pay to ease those "isn't there something I should be doing" fears.
