You failed to notice the other people used the same drug at New Years. None has had a side-effect. That formula is incredibly safe.

You're just mad you know he's prettier than you when he grows up. And you're afraid you've reached the cap of your height and he'll be taller than you.

So... you shun away people with the abilities, training, and information to protect him? Thinking you can do that all on your own?

Doing something on your own is well and good, it turns you into a monster though. Your protecting him from everything will make you the greatest threat to him.

You're right, he's a little on the naive side. You very well might have the better instincts.

If he is treated as a child, he won't grow up. Which leads to how he'll grow up, either you will let him grow up, or you'll die and he'll be forced to grow up.
