Before Europe

The only thing I remember before my trip that is worth mentioning was a particular Wednesday during which Steve and I lifted 15 metal cases, filled with around 200 metal drawers out of a warehouse, into a moving truck and then into upper collections by hand. In the process, we also had to move several tables, desks, compactor pieces, shelves, and at least 2000lbs of "bulk material" (sand, basically). We did this for over 17 hours.

Also, Laura visited. It was a little weird, but I think we both had a pretty good time. Checking out restaurants and kayaking on the lake. After just the right number of drinks she was even interested in my woes. She seems not just trying, but happy to be conforming to what she sees as New York culture.

She was only here for two nights, but I went to her place just three days later on my way to the airport. Not only did she put me up for the night and show me around central park, she gave me her keys so I could stay there again on my way back even though she'd be gone (at my parents' house, ironically).

After my first time truly sprinting through an airport (Dublin), I arrived in Shannon, met my parents, and was soon driving on the left...
