I haven't posted much about my cats but thought I'd do so here at LJ. It seems the recent social distancing has resulted in the cats becoming as antsy as we are at being cooped up the past few weeks. I have not been letting them go outside for the most part because I don't want them wandering about the neighbourhood and making themselves a nuisance.
There has also been recent reports of possible coyotes being sighted in the area. In fact, there has also been speculation that other wild animals are becoming more likely to encroach upon our residential and even commercial areas since everything is so quiet now.
Anyway, I should first introduce them. The pictures are very big so I'll put them under a cut. I wanted to resize them and tried to but I don't know what happened.
This is Nacho. She is our oldest and will be 18 this October 21st. Originally she was my mother's cat but we inherited her in 2009 and she quickly became my husband's favourite. In this photo she's got her paw over her face. She does that quite often.
Next is Fluffy. He was our son's cat but when Jamie moved he couldn't take the cats with him so we ended up adopting them.
Shorty here is Fluffy's twin brother but he's called Shorty because his fur is short whereas Fluffy's is long. Shorty is very sweet and docile.
Lastly is Jaffar. He belongs to my daughter but she left him with us when she and her family went travelling out West last summer. He won't be staying with us forever but he and Fluffy have become best friends.
Yesterday I let Fluffy come outside with me to the back garden. I followed him closely while he wandered around and when it looked as if he wanted to jump onto the fence I picked him up and brought him back inside. I was afraid he might climb over to the other side and go wandering the neighbourhood.
Yesterday Fluffy and Jaffar caught a mouse but I managed to pick it up in a washcloth and take it outside. It was fine...later on I saw it walking across some bricks my husband had made an edging with around the garden.
The day before they had also caught a mouse (I hope it wasn't the same one) but my husband managed to get it to run out the back door before the cats could follow it.
Today so far there has been no drama at all. Yet.
