Oh, my god, you took the standard Morgan/Reid + abusive partner trope and flipped it on its head. This is just wonderful - incredibly sad and painful and wonderful.

Abused, adult!Morgan isn't something I've ever seen before (or something most people would think to write), but you pull it off fantastically - including the slippery slope of falling into an abusive relationship, and the blackmail and coercion that's keeping him there.

Reid's role in this is also subtle and lovely. And it's so true to canon, because Reid opens up to Morgan again and again, but how many times does the reverse happen? You used that dynamic beautifully.

So...basically, this is wonderful, like all of your writing is.

Ay, I wanted to do something different. I'm sick of seeing the abuse angle matched with Reid-as-weakling trope. Not only is that selling Reid short, it also holds up the idea that only weak people can be abused. Abuse is so much more complex than being able to overpower someone.

I agree so, so much. Reid always gets these tropes, and they're nearly always paired up with the Reid-as-weakling bullshit. It just feeds the perception that Strong People Don't Get Victimized, which in turn feeds into the absolute shit belief that victims have it coming / could have done something to stop what happened to them. It's such a screwed up world view.

I'm really glad you decided to tackle this subject! I'm looking forward to more of this. And your other M/R verse. And the band fic. And the crutches/lap dance fics. Basically...anything you write. /fangirl

Ah so much angst! And I do agree, this is a great twist on the usual 'Reid being the victim' in fics, you've handled it so well how Morgan isn't really weak, he just can't find a way out.

This is AMAZING! Such a unique idea. I've never read an abused Morgan story and it's very interesting to me. I feel as though you've managed to capture the way in which he would handle this situation very well. Great work and I look forward to the rest.

this was really amazing. i don't think i've ever read a fic where morgan was the one with an abusive partner. it was really sad but powerful, and i love the way you portrayed morgan, and his conversations with reid. it seemed very true to their friendship on the show. i'm looking forward to seeing where this goes. <3
