CHAPTER TWO
Day

Despite the circumstances of the night before, Mana rested well through the storm and the disturbing images. When he awoke in the morning, the sun was barely shining through his curtains, setting off beams of light in the room. Usually this type of light would be a nuisance to him, but this morning he seemed to be drawn to it. He wanted to go for a walk and enjoy the warm sunlight. He stepped out of bed and for once, he opened his curtains to let day in. There wasn't a cloud in the sky and it was fairly warm outside. He did his maintenance and prepared for a walk. As he stepped outside of his house he noticed how cool the breeze was. He welcomed the breeze to embrace him and walked down the stairs. Of course he took his usual rout: to the woods. It was as if he had forgotten the things he had seen the nights before, but something about the day only welcomed things instead of withdrawing. The ground was ever-so peaceful and the the earth was like a blue crystal orb. As he entered the woods, by the fountain he had walked by so many times, he saw a large bed of lilies, sweetly praising the sun. They seemed to glow and sing silently, but as beautiful as they were he found it so bizarre and amazing how in three days a cold, bare ground could suddenly be adorned in beautiful, white flowers. Might someone have put them there? He watched the lilies dance in the breeze and suddenly he heard a soft movement. He looked to his left, to a large mass of shrubbery that he hadn't seen before and noticed thin, feminine fingers peeking through slightly. He walked closer and could see hair and a vague, innocent eye. Such a welcoming being. He walked closer, admiring the golden hair of this timid person. He walked even closer and held out his hand. The person behind the shrubs paused and looked at his hand. Just as Mana was reaching out, he heard something on the opposite end and looked toward the noise. He saw a group of doves and crows flying off together, side by side. Unusual. As he turned back to the shrubs, the person behind them scurried off as if startled by the birds. Mana paused for a moment with a puzzled look on his face. He wondered what in the world had just happened. He decided to conclude his stroll and walk back home.

Late that night after Mana had gotten home and written more music he decided to go to bed. He prepared his bed, then went downstairs to put out the candles. As he headed back upstairs he blew out the candles in his stretched hallway and went into his bedroom. He removed his robe and got into bed, under his dark silk sheets. As he turned over he noticed he forgot to close his curtains. It had started to rain and the moon was shining through. He couldn't sleep with light in his eyes, so he got up to close his curtains. While walking toward his windows, he heard a small noise and lightning struck. After the lightning faded he saw a figure in the window. He looked at a distance and saw an unclothed body on the ground. A person. The skin was glistening in the rain and sparkling off of the moon. The person was crouched weakly on the ground, as if waiting for Mana. Mana couldn't catch what the face looked like because lightning struck again and soon after the lightning faded once more, the figure scurried quickly into the woods.

Suddenly Mana was no longer sleepy and he didn't want to be in bed. He closed his curtains quickly and walked out of his bedroom, relighting all the candles and sitting to think for a moment. He thought about the past crazy nights and realized if he didn't do anything about the situation, the strange things that kept occurring would never stop. With this thought, he put on his coat and left his house, wandering back into the woods. He walked right for the fountain, where there was no longer a bed of lilies, nor a body. There was nothing but the fountain. It was no longer raining and the clouds had begun to clear before Mana decided to leave the house. Mana walked over to the fountain to observe the water, something he hadn't done before, and just then, he heard another small noise. It came from the shrubbery. He looked over to it and saw something move a little.

He walked over to the shrubs slowly and was able to see two timid, innocent eyes peeking just over the shrubs. Unlike the eye he saw earlier that day, these eyes were very clear and obvious in emotion and personality. They were beautiful and deep, but very timid. He noticed a hand too, but this hand was smoother than the fingers he had seen before. Mana held out his hand again and the eyes began to hide a little. Mana further offered his hand and things paused for a moment, before he saw the smooth, silky hand reaching out a little. Mana reached out a little more and smiled softly as a glistening arm appeared from the shrubs, followed by the rest of the body. As the body was fully exposed from the shrubs, Mana was in awe and amazement at the beautiful boy he saw on the ground. He started by observing his smooth, long legs. The shape of them was so defined and pristine. As his eyes scrolled up on the boy he noticed how his small waist was barely tapered and very frail, as his arms and beautiful, elegant hands. His body was flawless and there were no scars or markings at all. He couldn't take his eyes away or even blink. Just as he thought the boy couldn't get any more beautiful he looked up farther to a warm, soft, purely innocent face. That perfect angular nose, slightly curved at the tip and those full, pouted, childlike lips. His high, but very soft, lush bone structure and not one single scratch or scar. His skin was like pure moonlight. He looked no older than 19. Mana leaned down a little, his hand still out. The boy crawled over slowly and elegantly, like a cat... a very curious, timid look in his large, sparkling deep brown eyes. He crawled closer to Mana's hand, bringing his face toward it. As Mana spread his fingers a little, the boy brought the tip of his nose to Mana's fingers before brushing his face into Mana's hand. His face felt like fine, soft velvet and flower petals against Mana's hand. Mana stroked the boy's face gently, then ran his hand through his shiny, black hair. It was so thick and lustrous and like pure silk, even when wet. It reminded him of crow feathers, smooth and shiny. The boy closed his eyes and leaned his head back into Mana's hand, comforted by such care. A small smile appeared on the boy's face, exposing his white teeth. Such a beautiful smile... such a beautiful face. Mana didn't have the heart to leave him out in the woods. He wanted so badly to just keep him and pamper him and take care of this precious being. This was what he had wanted... this was his child. He took off his coat and put it around the boy, then lifted the delicate body into his arms, feeling those frail arms weakly wrap around him. The boy placed his head in Mana's chest and was asleep within minutes of leaving the woods.

...

Mana finally reached his home once again, holding the shimmery, frail, sleeping boy in his arms as he opened the door, stepping inside.  He wondered where the boy would sleep, but before anything, he needed clothes.  He lay the boy on a sofa and looked over him for a brief moment, wondering what would fit him and since Mana loved to design clothes, what would look best on him.  He didn't want him wearing black.  Black was too heavy and would take away from the boy's innocent aura.  He walked quickly to his closet and found some white fabric and a blanket to keep the boy warm.  He walked back to the sofa where the boy was still sleeping peacefully and scanned his body once more, taking his measurements with his eyes before placing the blanket gently over him.  He went over to his sewing machine and began sewing a shirt.  The shirt was meant to be very loose fitting, but had ties for adjustments.  He then made a pair of pants the same way.  He was done within 15 minutes.  He went back over to the boy and pulled the blanket off slowly, carefully dressing him as he slept.  The clothes fit better than he had hoped.  He decided the boy would sleep in the cell.  The cell was nothing like a dungeon by any means.  It was more like a large, empty master bedroom with a steel door that locked from the outside.  There was nothing it it but a king sized bed, a few candles, and a fireplace.  There was a window, but there were bars in it.  The moon shined through brightly as Mana carried the boy to the plush bed he would sleep in.  He pulled back the covers and placed him gently underneath, tucking him in before lighting the fireplace.  As he walked out, he turned to look at the boy once more to assure he was sleeping peacefully.  After seeing how deep he was sleeping, Mana slowly and quietly closed the door, locking it and going over to his room to get some sleep himself.
