I made a Max Weber playlist on iTunes this morning, per Julia's suggestion. Not working with the whole music collection here, but it was none too difficult in finding songs that work. I think listening to this playlist will get one pretty close to a complete verstehen of Weber's angry, historical precedent-listing, anti-socialist, juristically inclined manic-depression.
1) Modern World, Wolf Parade
2) What Is Not But Could Be If, Silver Jews
3) Don't Have To Be So Sad, Yo La Tengo
4) Abraham, Sufjan Stevens
5) Zhao: Moon Over Guan Mountains, Yo-Yo Ma and Silk Road Ensemble
6) The Pharoahs, Neko Case
7) The Ruling Class, Jeff Tweedy
8) Theologians, Wilco
9) Kingdom Come, David Bowie
10) Occident, Joanna Newsom
11) This Is the Call, Foo Fighters
12) Little Person, Jon Brion (Synecdoche, NY Soundtrack)
13) Modern Guilt, Beck
14) All the Pretty Girls Go to the City, Spoon
I'm on the last chapter now... reading about THE OCCIDENTAL CITY.
